With a fun and quirky nature, Flamboyance Tours is bringing varied walks to this year's History Festival across May. Inspired by the festival theme of Reimagine, immerse yourself in learning about Adelaide's heritage and culture with us. Marvel at the mix of heritage charm and modern life in the unique precinct that is Port Adelaide. Listen to the intriguing stories shaping Adelaide's queer history on an audio tour. Our Tours

The following tours are published in the History Festival 2022 program. (There are discrepancies in the printed program - all details here are correct.)

Port Adelaide Walking Tour

  • This is a new tour to the History Festival that's not to be missed.
  • Discover Port Adelaide's fascinating stories and relaxed pub vibe on this walk. Known by early settlers as Port Misery, you'll hear the stories that shaped this vital heritage place and understand how it functions today. See how beautiful architecture, intriguing tales and modern street art all give the Port its unique appeal. You'll also appreciate port life as the locals did - and still do - by visiting a pub for a quick refreshment (included).
  • *Participants under 18 will receive a non-alcoholic drink, while adults have a choice of an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage.
  • Start point: Old Troubridge Loading Ramp, behind Hart's Mill | End point: Port Adelaide Lighthouse
Adelaide Queer History
  • An Adelaide tour that highlights LGBT history in the city, featuring pioneering people and decisions that led to the open society Australia has today. Along the walk, you'll hear stories ranging from the quirky to tragic. From the death of George Duncan to politicians making their distinguishable mark, Adelaide has plenty of tales within the LGBT community. Finally, you'll take most of the Pride March route to appreciate what has led to current societal norms.
  • HOW TO ACCESS THE TOUR: you need a mobile phone with working GPS and headphones. You will be emailed a code from us within 24 hours of purchase. You will then need to download the free VoiceMap app, where you enter the code to access the tour. One code is needed per person.

  • *This tour is recommended for people aged 16 and up, as there are adult themes.
